Speeding bus kills child in Gopalganj

A minor child was killed after being rammed by a speeding bus in Gopalganj sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased, Achia Khatun, 5, was daughter of Alamgir Sheikh and a resident of Charghobra village in the upazila.

According to the family members, a bus of Ena Transport ran over the child when she was crossing the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in front of her house. She was critically injured and taken to Gopalganj General Hospital where the physicians declared her dead.

Kashiani Bhatiapara Highway Police outpost officer-in-charge Abul Hasem Majumder confirmed the death, adding that the body will be handed over to the family upon completing legal procedures.
