20 injured as bus overturns into ditch in Dinajpur

The accident occurred around 12 PM on Saturday on the Rangpur-Dinajpur Highway near Satayshjan Bridge at Champatali bazaar area of the upazila. 

According to reports, a Shamim Enterprise bus, traveling from Thakurgaon to Rangpur, veered off the road and fell into a roadside ditch after the driver lost control over the steering, leaving 20 passengers critically injured.

Among the injured, two were identified as Sabina Yasmin, 35, wife of Ainul Islam, and Aleya Khatun, 36, wife of Mostafa Kamal, both residents of Bhulli in Thakurgaon while the identities of other injured passengers are yet to be confirmed.  

On information, police from Dashmail Highway Police Station and firefighters from Sayedpur Fire Service Station rushed there and rescued the injured with the help of locals. The injured were transported to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital and Sayeddpur General Hospital for treatment.  

Confirming the incident, officer-in-charge of Dashmail Highway Police Station Md. Omar Faruk stated, "Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, and the scene has since been cleared to resume traffic flow."
