Farmer's hanging body recovered in Madaripur

A farmer was found hanging with an iron chain from a mango tree in an orchard in Madaripur Sadar upazila on Saturday.

The recovery took place in the morning at Chiraipara village under Ghotomazhi union of the upazila.  

The deceased, Mizan Sardar, 50, son of late Abu Ali Sardar, was a resident of Banikpara village in Jhaudi union of the same upazila.  

According to family members and locals, Mizan left home on Friday night to attend a religious gathering (Waz Mahfil) near Tubia bazaar and did not return home after the event. The next morning, around 11:00 AM, a child passing by noticed the body hanging from a mango tree and raised an alarm. Locals rushed to the scene and informed the police.  

Police arrived and recovered the body which was later sent to Madaripur Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.  

Madaripur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the incident after visiting the scene, adding, "We have recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy. Further details will be revealed after receiving the autopsy report."
