An army member has been reportedly injured in gunfire fired by the armed organization Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in Bandarban's Ruma.
The incident took place in Paindu area of the upazila at 5 pm on Monday (December 30).
The injured Shakil is said to be a lance corporal of Bangladesh Army.
According to local and police, the joint forces have been conducting anti-terror operations in Ruma-Thanchi and Rowangchhari of Bandarban for a long time. As part of the operation, the army also conducted an operation in Paindu area of Ruma on Monday. Sensing the presence of the army, members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) opened fire, in which Lance Corporal Shakil was shot in the leg.
Ruma Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Suhrawardy confirmed it and said, "I have heard that an army member named Shakil was injured in the KNF firing in Paindu area. Details will be known later."
