The 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will start on January 3 instead of January 1.
This information was given in a notification signed by Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Deputy Director Md. Rafiqul Islam (Senior Assistant Secretary) on Tuesday night.
The notification said that the government has decided to observe three days of state mourning following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. In this situation, it has been decided to organize the inaugural ceremony of the 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair on January 3 instead of January 1.
The fair was scheduled to be inaugurated on January 1 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal. However, the fair will not be inaugurated today amid the three-day state mourning following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
According to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), 324 stalls and pavilions, both domestic and foreign, have been set up in this year's fair. Organizations from several countries including India, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Singapore and Afghanistan will participate.
The special attraction of the fair will be 'Bangladesh Square', where visitors will be able to learn about various aspects of the country's history, tradition and development progress.
The use of polythene bags and single-use plastic has been banned in this year's fair. As an alternative, eco-friendly shopping bags will be provided at a reduced price through the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. In addition, various events including seminars, cultural programs will be held at the month-long fair to encourage the energy and innovative initiatives of the youth.
