Police have received reports that a lawyer has allegedly been beaten to death in Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhaka.
The incident occurred around 10pm on Wednesday, as citizens began celebrating the coming of New Year, following a collision between a motorcycle and a private car.

According to the allegation, motorcyclists physically assaulted lawyer Naim Kibria, 35, who was inside the private car, leaving him critically wounded. He died after being taken to hospital.

Confirming the incident took place in Bashundhara's Block K, Bhatara Police chief Imraul Haque said: "We recovered the body from Kurmitola General Hospital that night. After completing the formalities, it was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for postmortem."

Based on preliminary information, the officer said that while Naim was returning home in his private car, it collided with a motorcycle. This was followed by an altercation between him and the motorcyclists.
