KHULNA, Jan 4: After scrutinising a total of 46 nomination papers submitted in six seats of Khulna in the 13th national parliament election, the District Returning Officer has declared cancellation of 10 candidates' nomination papers and one adjourned.
The District Returning Officer has also declared 35 nomination papers valid.
On Sunday - on the final day of the scrutiny -- Khulna District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner (DC) A S M Jamshed Khondokar announced the matter after completing the scrutiny in his conference room.
The candidates whose nomination papers were cancelled are - Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) nominated candidate G M Rokonuzzaman, independent candidates are Achinta Kumar Mondal and Govinda Halder in Khulna-1 (Batiaghata-Dacope) constituency.
Independent candidates Abdur Rouf Molla, Abul Hasnat Siddique and Arifur Rahman Mithu in Khulna-3 (Daulatpur-Khalishpur-Khanjahan Ali-Arongghata) constituency.
Independent candidate S M AzmolHossain in Khulna - 4 (Rupsha-Terokhada-Dighalia) constituencies.
Jatiya Party candidate Shamim Ara Parveen in Khulna-5 (Dumuria-Fultala) constituency and Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) candidate Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's candidacy is adjourned.
In Khulna-6 constituency (Paikgachha-Koyra), Jatiya Party candidate Md Mostofa Kamal Zahangir and independent candidate Md Asadul Biswas. Besides, all nomination forms of Khulna-2 constituency was declared valid on Sunday.
The 35 valid candidates for the six parliamentary constituencies of Khulna are - In Khulna-1 constituency, the 10 valid candidates are BNP's Amir Ezaz Khan, CPB's Kishor Kumar Roy, Jamaat-e-Islami's Krisna Nandi, Bangladesh Minority Janata Party's Probir Gopal Roy, JSD's Proshenjit Dutta, IAB's candidate Md Abu Sayeed, Jatiya Party's Md Zahangir Hossain, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis candidate Md Firozul Islam, Bangladesh Islami Front's Sunil Shuvo Roy and Bangladesh Somo Adhikar Party candidate Subroto Mondol.
In Khulna-2 constituency, the four valid candidates are IAB's Amanullah, BNP's Nazrul Islam Monzu, Khelafat Mazlis's Md Shahidul Islam, andJ amaat's Sheikh Zahangir Hossain Helal.
The nine valid candidates for Khulna-3 constituency are - IAB's Md Awal, BNP's Rokibulislam, Jamaat's Md Mahfuzur Rahman, BSD's Janardan Dutta, Khelafat Mazlis's F M Harun-ur-Rashid, National Democratic League (NDL) Sheikh Arman Hossain, Jatiya Party's Md Abdullah Al Mamun and independent candidates Md Murad Khan Liton and Moin Mohammad Mayaz.
The four legitimate candidates for Khulna-4 constituency are - IAB's Younus Ahmed Sheikh, BNP's S K Azizul Bari, Khelafat Majlis's S M Sakhwat Hossain and Jamaat's Md Kobirul Islam.
The five legitimate candidates for Khulna-5 constituency are - CPB's Chitto Ranjon Golder, Jamaat's Mia Golam Porwar, BNP's Mohammad Ali Asgor and Khelafat Majlis's Md Abdul Quyaum Jomaddar.
The four valid candidates for Khulna-6 constituency are: BNP's S M Monirul Hasan Bappy, Jamaat's Md Abul Kalam Azad, IAB's Md Asadulla Fakir and CPB's Proshanta Kumar Mondal.
In this regard, Khulna District Returning Officer and DC A S M Jamshed Khondokar said that the scrutiny of all 46 nomination papers votes has been held in six parliamentary constituencies of Khulna.
The nomination papers of 11 candidates from six parliamentary constituencies have been declared cancelled and the remaining 35 were declared valid in the scrutiny.
"The candidates whose nomination papers have been declared invalid can appeal to the Election Commission to restore the validity of their candidatures as per the rules," he said.
