SONARGAON, N'GANJ, Jan 9: A doa and milad mahfil was held in Sonargaon Upazila of the district on Friday, seeking blessings for former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
The programme was organised by Sonargaon thana and municipal units of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) after Jummah prayers at Adampur in the municipal area.
Sonargaon Upazila BNP Joint General Secretary Ziaul Haque Chayan attended the programme as the chief guest.
Others present included Upazila Jubo Dal Joint Secretary Abu Taher, municipal BNP Vice-President Md Anwar Hossain, Publicity Secretary Md Jasim Mia, municipal Jubo Dal Joint Convener Shariful Islam Shyamal, municipal JASAS President MA Halim, General Secretary Jalil Hossain, Office Secretary Mizanur Rahman, and municipal Jubo Dal leaders Akhtar Zaman, Shaheen Chowdhury, Nurul Islam, Rahim, Mamun, among others.
Special prayers were offered seeking blessings, peace, and well-being, while milad was conducted with the participation of party leaders and activists.
After the doa and milad, a communal meal was arranged for all attendees.
Party leaders said such programmes reflect their continued prayers and solidarity and reaffirmed their commitment to organisational activities at the grassroots level.
