Lightning kills teenager at Bhaluka

BHALUKA, MYMENSINGH, June 15: A teenager was killed in a lightning strike in the Meghar Math area adjacent to the Bhaluka Press Club on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased Faisal Ahmed, 14, was the son of Nizam Uddin of Benipur Village in Muktagachha Upazila of the district. He lived with his family in a rented house in the T&T Road area of Ward No. 7 of Bhaluka Municipality and was a scrap metal trader.

According to local and police sources, on his way home via Meghar Math after work, he was struck by lightning and seriously injured. Later, local people rushed him to the Upazila Health Complex where he was declared dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station Jahidul Islam said legal proceedings are underway in this connection.
