A Dhaka court on Wednesday ordered to show former lawmaker Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin arrested in a murder case filed over the killing of a pharmaceutical company employee during the July movement last year.

Following a petition filed by police, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam granted the application on Wednesday, ordering that Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin be shown arrested in the case.

The case was filed over the death of Mahfuz Alam Shraban, an employee of Renata Pharmaceuticals, who was shot dead in the Mirpur area of the capital.

Earlier, investigation officer Inspector Md Mizanur Rahman of Mirpur Police Station produced the accused before the court from jail and sought permission to show him arrested in the case.

After hearing the petition, the court allowed the plea and sent him back to prison.
