Students of seven government colleges in Dhaka have set up a temporary stage in front of Dhaka College to press for the immediate promulgation of the proposed Dhaka Central University (DCU) ordinance through presidential approval and official gazette notification.

The programme, titled "DCU Ordinance Stage," is being jointly organized by students from Dhaka College, Eden Women's College, and Begum Badrunnesa Government Women's College to demand enforcement of the Dhaka Central University Act 2025. On Monday afternoon, a stage with a large banner calling for ordinance issuance was erected at the left side of Dhaka College's main gate.

Student leaders said the agitation has been ongoing for a long time, aiming to establish a full-fledged public university by merging seven colleges. They noted that the draft ordinance has already been finalized, making further delay unjustified.
