AMTALI, BARGUNA, Jan 25: Following the allocation of symbols for the 13th national parliamentary election, two candidates are actively campaigning in the field for Barguna-1 (Amtali-Taltali-Barguna Sadar) constituency.
They are the nationalist party BNP candidate Md Nazrul Islam Molla and Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) candidate Md Waliullah. They have started vigorous campaigning across all three upazilas immediately after receiving their symbols.
Although a total of four candidates are contesting in this seat, no visible campaign has yet begun for the 10-Party Alliance candidate Advocate Jahangir Hossain and Jatiya Party (JaPa) candidate Md Jamal Hossain.
Investigation reveals that while the campaign activities of the BNP and IAB candidates are ongoing in Amtali, Taltali, and Sadar upazilas, no campaign for the other two candidates has been observed.
On this matter, JaPa candidate Md Jamal Hossain said it is taking a little time to get organised, but campaigning will start soon. 10-Party Alliance candidate Advocate Jahangir Hossain also stated the same, saying he will take to the field shortly. IAB candidate Md Wali Ullah informed that he started campaigning in the three upazilas in compliance with the code of conduct as soon as he received the symbol. BNP candidate Md Nazrul Islam Molla said, campaigning is being conducted vigorously in every union following the code of conduct.
Meanwhile, Amtali Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Muhammad Zafar Arif Chowdhury stated that all candidates have been instructed to campaign in compliance with the code of conduct, and no leniency will be shown in the case of any violations.
Members of the Amtali Upazila BNP Election Management Committee, including Convener Md Jalal Uddin Fakir, Member Secretary Md Tuhin Mridha, members Md Makbul Hossain Khan, Zahirul Islam Mamun, Kamruzzaman Hiru, Mahbub Mridha, Alhaj Tariqul Islam Tarzan, along with the Convener of the committee Md Kabir Uddin Fakir, Member Secretary Md Jalal Ahmed Khan, Jubo Dal Senior Joint Convener Mainuddin Mamun, Chatra Dal president Shoaib Helal, Member Secretary Md Imran Khan, and the conveners, member secretaries, and leaders and activists of each union committee of the Upazila BNP and its associated organisations, including Jubo Dal and Chatra Dal, are continuing their campaign in every union, municipality, neighbourhood, village, and hamlet, asking for votes using the 'Paddy Sheaf' symbol.
Former joint convener of Upazila BNP Makbul Hossain Khan, his elder son Enamul Haque Bachchu Khan, Upazila Chatra Dal Member Secretary Md Imran Khan, along with leaders and activists of Union BNP and associated organisations, are campaigning daily from morning till late night in every ward and village of the upazila's Holdia Union, asking for votes with the 'Paddy Sheaf' symbol.
