At least 10 to 12 journalists were injured, six of them critically, in a miscreant attack in front of Dream Holiday Park in Narsingdi. Police have detained two individuals in connection with the incident.
The attack took place on Monday evening, leaving several journalists injured, including Shahed, Mohsin, and Lalon, a staff member of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB).
According to eyewitnesses, after the conclusion of CRAB's Family Day program, journalists were returning to Dhaka by bus on Monday evening. When their bus was parked by the roadside in front of Dream Holiday Park in Narsingdi, a group of local assailants demanded extortion money.
As the journalists protested, an argument ensued, which eventually escalated into a violent attack on them, leaving 10 to 12 journalists injured.
Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Md Abdullah Al-Faruk said that police rushed to the scene upon receiving the information and detained two suspects, who were taken to the police station. The injured journalists were rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for treatment.
The CRAB Executive Committee said it would file a case with Madhabdi Police Station over the incident.
