Metro rail services at Mirpur-10 and Mirpur-11 stations resumed on Tuesday afternoon after being suspended temporarily following clashes between police and garment workers.
Trains resumed stopping at the two stations at 12:25PM after the suspension began at 11:50AM on security grounds.
Sources at Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said police had advised the authorities to suspend operations at the stations as a precautionary measure amid security concerns surrounding the garment workers' protests.
Accordingly, train stops at both stations were suspended from 11:50AM, while their entry gates were also closed, preventing passengers from boarding or disembarking there.
As the situation improved, train services at the two stations resumed at 12:25PM.
However, metro rail services between Uttara and Motijheel remained normal throughout the period, with passengers continuing to board and disembark at other stations.
According to eyewitnesses, garment workers from different factories have been staging protests for several days in Mirpur-10, Mirpur-11 and surrounding areas, demanding higher wages.
Workers took to the streets again on Tuesday morning. Tension escalated when police moved to clear the roads, eventually triggering chases and counter-chases between the two sides.
