A Dhaka court on Wednesday granted a further three-day remand for Faisal Rubel Ahmed, an associate of the prime accused in the murder of Inqilab Moncho convener Sharif Osman Hadi.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order after investigators sought a seven-day remand. The court allowed three days.

According to the prosecution, the investigation officer, CID Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan of Dhaka Metro (East), said further interrogation was necessary to verify information obtained during an earlier six-day remand, trace absconding suspects and receive forensic reports of two mobile phones seized from Rubel.

Rubel was earlier placed on a six-day remand by the same court. He was arrested late Wednesday night from Atibazar area of South Keraniganj by the CID with assistance from the Detective Branch police.

No lawyer appeared on behalf of the accused during the hearing.
