Effective border management is indispensable for safeguarding national security and fostering economic growth, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stated on Wednesday (November 4).
"The world is more interconnected than ever before. In this context, the government is working relentlessly to build a technology-driven, international-standard immigration system that facilitates international travel and commerce while effectively addressing cross-border risks," he said.
The Home Minister made the remarks while addressing an event titled "IOM Strategic Outline on Immigration and Border Governance in Bangladesh (2027–2031)," organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the Meghna Hall of Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka.
Highlighting the imperative to balance national security with the facilitation of legal travel and trade, the minister pointed to the newly adopted "National Integrated Border Management Strategy 2026–2031" and the "Five-Year Strategic Reform and Development Roadmap 2026–2031."
He emphasized that digital transformation, the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence, paperless administrative operations, and enhanced interoperability among government services remain core priorities of the administration.
