BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to visit Bogura on Thursday, marking his first appearance in the district in nearly two decades, sparking enthusiasm among party leaders, activists and supporters.

According to BNP Bogura District Acting General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain, Tarique Rahman will arrive in Bogura after attending election rallies in Rajshahi and Naogaon earlier in the day. On his way, he is scheduled to hold road-side meetings in Dupchanchia and Kahaloo before addressing a major election rally at the historic Altafunnesa Playground at 8:00pm.

Party leaders said the visit is politically significant, as the BNP chief is expected to outline the party's election commitments to voters in the district.

"There is tremendous excitement among BNP activists ahead of his arrival," said Sultan Mahmud, a youth leader from Kahaloo Upazila. "This tour is important because Tarique Rahman will directly present BNP's vision and promises to the people."

BNP media sources said Tarique Rahman will begin the day in Rajshahi, arriving at 12:30pm to attend a rally at Rajshahi Alia Madrasah Ground, where he will formally hand over the party's 'Dhaner Shish' election symbol to BNP candidates. He will then join another rally in Naogaon before heading toward Bogura.

In Bogura, Tarique Rahman will stay overnight at Hotel Naz Garden in Khalimpur, which has been specially decorated for the occasion.

During his visit, he is also expected to visit Baytur Rahman Central Mosque, Shahid Ziaur Rahman Children's Hospital in Dattabari, and the BNP district office. On January 30, he will conduct public outreach in several areas of Bogura-7 (Gabtali-Shajahanpur) constituency, including Charmatha, Barpur and Subgram, through separate road-side meetings. He will later visit Bagbari in Gabtali before returning to the hotel. His departure for Rangpur is scheduled for the morning of January 31.

Preparations for the rally are underway under the supervision of BNP Bogura District President Rezaul Karim Badsha. Party leaders and activists inspected the venue over the past two days.

BNP District Vice-President Maftun Ahmed Khan Rubel said the visit has revitalized party workers. "Tarique Rahman's tour has energized BNP and its affiliated bodies and created strong public interest across Bogura," he said.

Rezaul Karim Badsha said hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the rally.

Meanwhile, local authorities have stepped up security arrangements, with multiple teams from district and traffic police to be deployed to ensure safety during the visit and events.
