Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) AKM Shahidur Rahman has said the election may carry certain risks not to ordinary voters; rather to individuals attempting to disrupt the polls. They will face consequences.
He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in casting fake votes, snatching ballot boxes, occupying polling centres, or carrying out attacks.
The RAB chief made the remarks on Wednesday afternoon while briefing journalists on the force's nationwide special security deployment at the Capital High School centre in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
He said RAB would not hesitate to act if anyone tries to create sabotage or disorder by rejecting the election results. "Those who violate the law will be at risk, as we will perform our duties in accordance with the law," he stated.
Shahidur Rahman noted that RAB has been working to maintain law and order and ensure a smooth election environment since the announcement of the election schedule.
