At least six individuals were injured in a violent clash between supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami in Baraigram upazila of Natore district on Saturday morning.
According to sources, tensions escalated after a Jamaat activist named Sabbir was assaulted by BNP activists at Dhanaidah Bazar on Friday afternoon over an election-related dispute.
In retaliation, Jamaat supporters allegedly attacked BNP leader Asab Sorkar on Saturday at around 10:30 AM, leading to a clash between activists of both parties.
During the confrontation, several rounds of gunfire were exchanged and at least five to six houses were vandalised.
Being informed, police later arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
Two of the injured, including Hasinur Rahman, were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, while others were taken to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex in Pabna.
Confirming the incident, Baraigram Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdus Salam said that joint forces were deployed in the area.
