20 injured in Faridpur road accident

At least 20 passengers sustained injuries in a head-on collision between two buses on Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Faridpur Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The police said the accident occurred in Karimpur area around 4:00pm when a Dhaka-bound bus of Royal Paribahan collided with a Magura-bound bus of Apan Paribahan head on.

On information, members of Kotwali Police Station and Highway Police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of locals.

After being rescued, the injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The accident disrupted traffic on both sides of the highway for about an hour.

Vehicular movement returned to normal after the damaged buses were removed from the road, said Officer-in-Charge of the Kotwali Police Station Mahmudur Rahman.
