A female HSC candidate and her cousin were detained at an examination centre at Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district, on Thursday after the candidate allegedly attempted to sit for the HSC-2026 examination using a forged admit card.
The incident took place around 9:45 AM at Tofazzal Ali Degree College examination centre before the examination began.
The detainees were identified as Tasfia Rahman, 18, a failed student of Kasba Mohila College and her cousin, Injamul Haque, 19.
According to examination centre sources, Tasfia, with the assistance of her cousin, allegedly prepared a fake admit card and appeared at the centre to sit for the examination.
During the routine verification process before the examination, officials noticed discrepancies on the admit card, raising suspicion.
After further scrutiny, the centre authorities confirmed that the admit card was forged.
Principal of Tofazzal Ali Degree College, Md Abul Kalam Azad, said the mismatched code number and examination subject led officials to detect the fake document during verification.
He said the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and the Upazila Secondary Education Officer were immediately informed of the matter.
Following the incident, the two detainees were kept at the principal's office while Kasba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Samiul Islam arrived at the examination centre.
As of filing this report, the authorities had not taken a final decision regarding legal action against the detainees.
