
The government has cancelled the remaining tenure of the contract of Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid. A notification in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Saturday.
Immediate after the cancellation of his contact, M. Sirajuddin Miah, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, has been appointed as new Cabinet Secretary. Sirajuddin Miah is also serving the administration on contact.
According to the official gazette notification, the remaining term of his contractual appointment has been revoked from February 15. In October 2025, the government appointed him as Cabinet Secretary on a two-year contractual basis. He assumed office on October 14 of the same year.
The notification, issued by the Contract and Foreign Recruitment Wing of the Ministry of Public Administration, stated that his appointment was made on the condition that he would relinquish any professional or employment ties with other government or private institutions. Other terms and conditions of the appointment were to be determined by the contract agreement.
