A housewife committed suicide by hanging herself with a veil at Rajarhat upazila in Kurigram district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Nasrin Begum, 25, wife of Nur Alam, a resident of Chandamari village in the upazila.
According to locals, neighbours called out Nasrin around 10 AM and did not get any response. Then they went to search her bedroom and found her body hanging.
Locals suspect that Nasrin may have committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her bedroom.
Being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Kurigram General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police initially suspect that Nasrin may have committed suicide due to a family dispute. However, no injury marks were found on the body.
Following the incident, Nasrin’s husband, Nur Alam, has been absconding since the incident.
Rajarhat Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Wadud confirmed the death and said that an unnatural death case has been filed in this regard.
