A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to three top officials of Toyota Bangladesh Limited (TBL) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) after they appeared before it in a case filed by Navana Limited alleging fraud, criminal breach of trust and corporate sabotage. The accused, Premmit Singh, Managing Director of Toyota Bangladesh Limited (TBL); Akio Ogawa, Deputy General Director of Toyota Tsusho Asia Pacific (TTAP); and Asif Rahman, General Manager of Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) Dhaka Liaison Office, appeared before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka in response to summons issued earlier.
The defendants sought bail during the hearing, which the court granted upon submission of a bond and subject to conditions, allowing them to remain on bail for a specified period while the trial continues.
The court said that the case will be transferred to the trial court. The case, filed as C.R. Case No. 871/2025, was initiated by Navana Limited accusing the officials of fraud, criminal breach of trust and coordinated actions aimed at undermining its long-standing distributorship arrangement with Toyota vehicles.
A Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) probe earlier found a prima facie case against the accused under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 417 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Penal Code, 1860.
