Robberies on the rise in city

Dear Sir,

Recently, the incidents of robberies have increased at an alarming rate in the country, especially in urban areas. At any time, robbers appear like 'Yamadoots' on the road and rob pedestrians of everything they own. Their violence on the streets increases after evening. Every day, office workers, businessmen or ordinary pedestrians leave their homes in fear. From the alleys of the city to the busy roads, robbers roam freely everywhere. They snatch mobile phones, bags, money or gold ornaments by holding a sharp knife to their necks or threatening them with a weapon and run away. In many cases, the victim is physically injured when they try to resist.

Women in open vehicles like rickshaws and autos are being pulled on the roads in traffic jams, resulting in the tearing of their earlobes or injuries while pulling their neck chains. As a result, people who go out on the streets of the city every day now have to move with fear of insecurity. Due to the lack of adequate surveillance and patrolling by law enforcement forces in many areas, robbers are easily getting opportunities.

Effective measures need to be taken to deal with this problem very soon. Regular police patrols should be strengthened in the alleys, important roads and populated areas of the city and the number of CCTV cameras should be increased. Identify the criminals and ensure strict punishment so that no one dares to commit such crimes in the future.
