Looted arms-ammo of police recovered within 24hrs, 3 held

Police have recovered a government gun alongwith bullets and magazines within 24 hours which was snatched from an ASI in Narayanganj. 

Three people involved in the incident have also been arrested.

The arms and 16 rounds of bullets were looted from the Fire Service Station area of Bandar Upazila late on Monday night.

Earlier, police arrested three snatchers from different places in separate operations. They are Md Mishal of the city's Deobhog Pani Tanki area, Farhad Ahmed and Hasan of the Kashipur Bank Colony area of Fatullah.

Police said Mishal was first arrested from the Sonakanda Beparipara area of Bandar upazila on Monday night. Later, based on his information, Farhad and Hasan were nabbed from the Kashipur Bank Colony area of Fatullah on that night.

According to their initial confession, one pistol, two magazines and 16 rounds of bullets were recovered from the Bandar Fire Service Station area around 2:30AM.

On Tuesday morning, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) of the District Police Tarek Al Mehedi said that after the attack on ASI Lutfar Rahman, various law enforcement agencies including the District Police, Thana Police and Detective Branch Police launched a raid to arrest the attackers.

In a short time, the CCTV footage of the scene was collected and various observations were made and the gunmen were quickly identified and arrested.

District Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman Munshi will give details about the operation on Tuesday afternoon.

It is noted that at 6 AM on Monday, Sub-Inspector (SI) Lutfar Rahman of Shitalakshya police outpost was patrolling on a motorcycle wearing his uniform. Three miscreants on a motorcycle waylaid him in front of the Nagar Bhaban in the city's Nitaiganj area. When the miscreants tried to stab him with a sharp weapon, he defended himself. Then his motorcycle was damaged. At one stage, the miscreants snatched his official pistol along with bullets and fled the scene.
