Saudi gift dates distributed to madrasas, orphanages in Bhola

Authorities in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola district distributed dates sent as a gift from Saudi Arabia to several madrasas and orphanages on Thursday.

The dates were provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center of Saudi Arabia.

A total of 192 kilograms of dates, packed in 24 cartons, were handed over to designated representatives of 27 madrasas and orphanages in the upazila. 

The packages were formally distributed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Shah Aziz.

The UNO said the dates were sent by Saudi Arabia as a gift considering the needs of orphans and disadvantaged people during Ramadan, especially for iftar.

''Through the upazila administration, the assistance has been delivered to various orphanages and madrasas in the area'', he said.

Such humanitarian assistance will play an important role in helping orphans and helpless people during Ramadan , he added.
