A passenger bus that fell into the Padma river after losing control at Daulatdia Ferry Ghat of Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district has been recovered, with authorities confirming that no casualties occurred in the incident.

The bus was retrieved at around 11:55AM on Friday with the help of the salvage vessel Hamza. Both the driver and helper were rescued alive.

The incident took place around 9:30AM at Pontoon No. 7 of the Daulatdia ferry terminal when an SB Paribahan bus lost control and plunged into the river while attempting to board a ferry.

Passengers said the bus had left Kushtia around 7:00AM carrying around 38 passengers, including families. Most passengers had already disembarked at the ferry terminal before the accident occurred.

Mohammad Salahuddin, Assistant General Manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Daulatdia Ghat, confirmed the incident, saying all passengers had been safely evacuated before the bus fell into the river.

Rajbari Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parveen also confirmed that no casualties were reported and said the recovered bus was retrieved by the salvage vessel Hamza.
