A large consignment of Indian narcotics and other smuggled goods were seized in separate operations along the Kushtia border.
According to a press release, issued on Friday by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-47, several drives have been brought out from Thursday to Friday seizing the huge consignment.
The notification reads that a drive was conducted in the West Dharmadah field under West Dharmadah BOP jurisdiction where 24 bottles of Indian liquor and 2,700 pieces of dexamethasone tablets were seized. The contraband goods worth around Tk 8,46,000.
In another drive, conducted in Munshiganj field by Ashrayan BOP, where 480 pieces of dexamethasone tablets, 510 pieces of cyproheptadine tablets and 80 packets of cigarette worth Tk 3,01,400 were seized.
During a drive at Khasmahal, a place under the jurisdiction of Tentulbari BOP, 260 pieces of Indian chocolate crackers valued Tk 6,500 were recovered.
Meanwhile, during a drive conducted at Border Para field in the area by Kazipur BOP, 50 kg of Indian cumin seeds were recovered.
The estimated value of the seized drugs and other contraband is around Tk 50,000.
However, no one made arrested during these drives.
The total value of the seized drugs and other contraband is estimated at Tk 12,03,900, stated the press release.
Stressing the force's pledges, Kushtia Battalion BGB-47 stated that such operations will continue in future to ensure the country's border security and preventing drugs and smuggling in the areas.
