Probe delayed for 125th time

The probe report in the high-profile journalist murder has been deferred for the 125th time, with a Dhaka court setting May 7 as the new submission date.

On Wednesday, Metropolitan Magistrate fixed the date after failed to file the Investigation report as scheduled.

The case involves eight accused, including a friend of the couple and several security personnel. Despite multiple remand hearings, none has given a confessional statement.

Journalists Sagar Sarowar-Meherun Runi and were brutally murdered at their rented home in Dhaka on February 11, 2012, sparking nationwide outrage.

The probe has shifted between multiple agencies over the years. A High Court bench led by Justices and earlier ordered a high-powered task force to complete the investigation within six months.
