Air Force annual exercise 'Akash Bijoy' begins

The Bangladesh Air Force will begin its annual exercise, 'Akash Bijoy-2026', on Sunday, aimed at assessing overall combat readiness and strengthening the country's air defence system.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise will continue until Thursday and will be conducted simultaneously across all air bases and units nationwide.

The primary objective of the drill is to evaluate air defence operations and enhance modern warfare strategies within the force.

ISPR said the five-day exercise will place special emphasis on air defence operations, focusing on advanced air defence tactics, coordinated operations, and rapid response systems. During the exercise, Air Force pilots will engage in practical training involving complex aerial combat manoeuvres and air warfare tactics.

All combat aircraft, transport planes, helicopters, radar units, and surface-to-air missile units of the Air Force are actively participating in the exercise.
