The body of Abdullah Al Mamun, a Bangladeshi expatriate who was killed in a missile attack amid the ongoing war in the Middle East, has arrived in Dhaka.
A Saudi Airlines flight SV806, carrying Mamun's body, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:15AM on Monday.
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury received the body of at the airport. The father of the deceased was also present at the time.
After receiving the body, the minister said, "We have received news of the deaths of seven people so far due to the war in the Middle East. Of these, we have received the bodies of four and the body of one was buried in Saudi Arabia with the consent of the family."
The minister said that the Wage Earners Welfare Board has provided the deceased's family with Tk 35,000 for burial costs and another Tk 50,000 in immediate cash. In addition, Tk 300,000 will be provided as financial assistance.
