Three more children died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours while 1,061 new cases were reported across the country, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday (August 18).

The health agency stated in its daily update that no child died from confirmed measles during this 24-hour period.

With these new deaths, a total of 819 children have died with measles symptoms since March 15. Another 99 children died from confirmed measles during the same period, bringing the total death toll from measles and its symptoms to 918.

Over the last 24 hours, 59 children were diagnosed with confirmed measles while 1,002 others showed symptoms. A total of 903 children were newly admitted to hospitals during this time, and 967 recovered patients left hospitals.

According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles cases reached 1,44,780 from March 15 to Tuesday, while confirmed cases stood at 17,989. A total of 1,26,289 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 1,21,880 returned home after receiving treatment.
