Senior journalist Anis Alamgir has levelled a series of allegations against former interim government adviser Asif Nazrul, accusing him of deviating from his previously stated positions on human rights and inclusive governance.

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook account on Monday, Anis Alamgir referred to his long personal and professional association with Asif Nazrul, noting that their social media connection spans 14 years, while their acquaintance dates back to the late 1980s or early 1990s.

He wrote, "Facebook memories show that my friendship with Asif Nazrul has completed 14 years today. In reality, we met in the late 1980s or early 1990s. I liked his writings and publicly praised him."

However, he alleged a significant shift in Asif Nazrul's position following his association with the interim administration led by Muhammad Yunus. He said, "After Dr Yunus became an adviser to the 'dustbin' government, his stance has completely changed. The man who once spoke about an inclusive society and human rights-with whom I shared many views and had very little disagreement-has disappointed me immensely."
