The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Board of Directors election concluded on Sunday in a festive atmosphere at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Voting began at 10:00 AM and continued without interruption until 4:00 PM. While official results are expected after 6:00 PM, preliminary counts indicate significant leads for key candidates.

Reliable sources tracking the vote count suggest that former national captain Tamim Iqbal, representing Old DOHS, has secured 73 votes in his bid for a director position. His fellow candidate from Abahani Limited, Fahim Sinha, followed with 66 votes. In a localized contest for a Barishal seat, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman claimed 5 of the 7 available votes.

The election saw a steady rise in voter turnout throughout the day, with high-profile figures including Tamim Iqbal, Rubel Hossain, Israfil Khosru, and Rafiqul Islam Babu casting their ballots in person. In addition to physical ballots, 39 voters exercised their rights through a newly implemented e-voting system, which closed at 1:00 PM.

The main contest took place across Category-1 and Category-2. Prior to today's polls, eight directors had already been elected unopposed, including Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir from Category-3 and seven others from Category-2. Today's voting determined the remaining 15 director positions, with intense battles observed in the club quota and the Khulna and Barishal divisions.

Following the announcement of the final board of directors this evening, the process will move to its most anticipated phase. The newly elected directors are scheduled to meet at 7:00 PM to cast their votes for the next BCB President and Vice-President.
