
Bangladesh has reiterated its request to India for the extradition of Sheikh Hasina and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who have been sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman made the request during a bilateral meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar at his office in New Delhi on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said.
During the discussions, Jaishankar assured that Indian visas for Bangladeshis, particularly medical and business visas, would be eased in the coming weeks.

Dr Rahman said the newly elected BNP government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, would pursue its foreign policy based on the principle of "Bangladesh First," mutual trust, respect, and reciprocal benefit.
He also thanked the Indian government for apprehending the suspected killers of Shaheed Osman Hadi. Both sides agreed that the arrested individuals would be returned to Bangladesh in accordance with the countries' extradition treaty.
Dr Rahman, who is visiting India, also met Indian Oil and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri. He expressed gratitude for India's recent supply of diesel to Bangladesh and requested an increase in the supply of diesel and fertilizer. Minister Puri indicated that the request would be considered favourably.
Additionally, Dr Rahman held a meeting with India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. Bangladesh's Prime Minister's Advisor for Foreign Affairs, Humaiun Kobir, and High Commissioner to India, Riaz Hamidullah, were present during the discussions.
The meetings focused on advancing bilateral relations, exploring cooperation in various sectors, and discussing key regional and international issues. Both sides also agreed to hold further consultations on important bilateral matters.
