NATORE, Apr 9: A total of 21 railway wagons carrying 7,25,500 litres of diesel oil arrived at the railhead depot of Natore railway station from Khulna on Wednesday to help meet the ongoing fuel crisis in the district.

The Padma, Meghna, and Jamuna railhead depots at Natore railway station received the oil and will distribute it properly to petrol pumps and agencies in the area. Army personnel were present at the spot to ensure the security of the transaction.

Depot authorities confirmed the news and stated that this supply of diesel oil will help ease the crisis for consumers in Natore, Naogaon, Chapainawabganj, and Rajshahi districts.

Fazle Elahi, a senior officer of the Padma oil depot, informed that the diesel will be sent directly to 67 pumps and agencies across the four districts of Rajshahi Division from Natore.

Farmers will be able to collect the necessary oil for irrigation purposes easily from this supply. The entire oil was unloaded from the wagons in the presence of strong army security, he added.

On the other hand, depot authorities also mentioned that prior to this delivery, a shipment of 9,57,000 litres of diesel oil had arrived in Natore on February 23 last, also by railway wagon from Khulna.

Due to the oil crisis, users in the area faced various problems over the past few days. Pump owners were also harassed by customers in different ways. At present, both groups are very happy to receive the new supply after a long period of suffering.
