
The first round of the National Vitamin A+ Campaign 2026 will be held on June 28 across the country. During the campaign, children aged six to 59 months will receive age-appropriate Vitamin A capsules free of cost at designated centres across the districts.
On the occasion of the campaign, separate press conferences were held in Narayanganj and Rajbari districts and Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur District on Wednesday and in Cox’s Bazar and Naogaon districts on Tuesday.
NARAYANGANJ: Children aged 6 to 59 months will be fed Vitamin 'A' capsules on the occasion of the National Vitamin A+ Campaign on June 28, including 1,40,011 children from 27 wards under the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC), said NCC Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nur Kutubul Alam as the chief guest at the journalists’ orientation meeting held at the conference room of the Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday noon.
NCC Acting CEO also said that about 25,255 children aged 6-11 months and about 1,14,756 children aged 12-59 months will be fed Vitamin 'A' capsules through 340 sessions at 144 permanent EPI vaccination centres of NCC. NCC Medical Officer Dr Nafia Islam presented the presentation.
Acting CEO Nur Kutubul Alam informed that Vitamin A not only protects children from malnutrition-related blindness, but also increases children's immunity, reduces the duration and complications of diarrhoea, and reduces the risk of child mortality.
RAJBARI: A press conference to mark the National Vitamin A+ Campaign organised by the Civil Surgeon's Office was held at the office conference room on Wednesday morning.
Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr S M Masud was present as the chief guest at the press conference. Medical Officers of the CS Office Dr Mohammad Sohel Sheikh and Dr Faruk Ahmed spoke as special guests. Rajbari Press Club President Kazi Abdul Quddus Babu chaired the meeting, which was also attended by Press Club General Secretary Md Shahidul Islam Hiron and District EPI Superintendent Md Kamal Hossain.
It was informed at the press conference that under the campaign, a total of 1.54 lakh children in the district will be fed Vitamin 'A' capsules in 135 wards of the district on June 28 by 2,132 volunteers. Among them, children aged 6 to 11 months will be fed blue Vitamin 'A' capsules and children aged 12 to 59 months will be fed red Vitamin 'A' capsules.
CS Dr S M Masud said that Vitamin 'A' plays an important role in increasing the immunity of children, preventing malnutrition and healthy development.
KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Organised by Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) and implemented by the Kaliganj Upazila Health Department, an awareness and planning meeting to mark the National Vitamin A+ Campaign was held in the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex meeting room on Wednesday morning.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Rezwana Rashid chaired the meeting. Upazila Family Planning Officer Nahida Khatun, Inspector (Operation) of Kaliganj Police Station Md Iqbal Hossain and Resident Medical Officer of the Upazila Health Complex Dr Jiseli Ghosh Munmun were present.
It was informed at the meeting that this year, out of the total 35,902 children in the upazila, 4,646 children aged 6 to 11 months will be administered blue Vitamin 'A' capsules and 31,256 children aged 12 to 59 months will be administered red vitamin 'A' capsules in 192 temporary centres and 1 permanent centre set up in the Upazila Health Complex from 8 am to 4 pm on June 28.
COX'S BAZAR: The first round of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2026 will be held in the tourist district of Cox's Bazar on June 28, in line with the nationwide programme.
Under the campaign, all children aged between six and 59 months across the district will receive age-appropriate Vitamin A capsules. Nearly 500,000 children are expected to be covered.
Acting CS Dr Titu Chandra Shil disclosed the information at a briefing on Tuesday.
He said children aged six to 11 months will receive one blue Vitamin A capsule, while those aged 12 to 59 months will be given one red capsule.
According to the Health Department, a total of 1,824 centres have been set up across the district to implement the one-day campaign.
The programme will be carried out in all eight upazilas, one municipality, 72 unions and 216 wards of Cox's Bazar.
A total of 486 health workers and 3,160 volunteers will be engaged in administering the capsules.
Dr Shil said the campaign aims to provide Vitamin A capsules to 493,315 children in the district this year. Of them, 61,835 are aged between six and 11 months, while 431,480 are between 12 and 59 months.
He said Vitamin A plays a vital role in ensuring children's normal growth and development. It helps protect eyesight, strengthens the immune system, and reduces the risk of severe complications and deaths caused by diarrhoea, measles and other infectious diseases.
NAOGAON: Organised by the CS's Office, a discussion and planning meeting ahead of the National Vitamin A+ Campaign was held at the DC's conference room on Tuesday.
DC Mohammad Saiful Islam attended the programme as the chief guest, while CS Dr Md Aminul Islam chaired the meeting.
Among others, Deputy Director (DD) of the Local Government Division TMA Momin, President of the District Diabetic Association Dr Md Iskandar Hossain, Deputy CS Dr Munir Ali Akand and DD of the District Family Planning Department Golam Md Azam addressed the meeting.
Speakers at the meeting said a total of 357,558 children will receive Vitamin A capsules under the National Vitamin A+ Campaign, scheduled to be held simultaneously on June 28 at 2,460 centres across the district's 11 upazilas and three municipalities.
Of the targeted children, 34,765 aged between six and 11 months will receive blue Vitamin A capsules, while 322,793 children aged between 12 and 59 months will be given red capsules.
Health inspectors, assistant health inspectors, Family Welfare Assistants (FWAs), Family Planning Inspectors (FPIs), Community Health Care Providers (CHCPs) and volunteers will take part in implementing the campaign.
CS Dr Aminul Islam said health workers and volunteers have been trained to ensure full implementation of the campaign and that monitoring will be carried out through coordinated supervision.
He added that extensive awareness activities, including public announcements through loudspeakers and publicity at mosques and other places of worship, will be conducted across unions and municipal wards to encourage parents to bring their children to the campaign centres.
