Farmers get free saplings, seeds, fertiliser in 4 dists

Farmers got different types of saplings, seeds and chemical fertilisers free of cost in Amtali Upazila of Barguna, Gaibandha, Jhenaigati of Sherpur, and Rajarhat of Kurigram districts in two days.

AMTALI, BARGUNA: Under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Programme for the fiscal year 2025-26, seedlings of various types of forest, fruit, medicinal trees, coconut and Aman paddy, and fertilisers and poles were distributed free of cost among marginal farmers in Amtali Upazila of the district on Wednesday. 

Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) Md Russell Mia chaired the inaugural programme and Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Ashraful Islam was the chief guest. Former Upazila BNP convener Md Jalal Uddin Fakir and former member secretary Md Tuhin Mridha were present as special guests. 

Under the programme, 3,000 farmers were provided with Aman paddy seeds and fertilisers, 900 coconut seedlings, 434 various fruit seedlings, 70 lemon seedlings, 180 chilli seedlings, and 1,500 vegetable growers were provided with farming assistances.

GAIBANDHA: World Vision Bangladesh, an international Christian, relief, development and humanitarian organisation, distributed the saplings of wood, medicinal and fruit bearing trees to the beneficiaries of the organisation. 

Area Programme Manager of the organisation Naresh Marandi said, “The government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman took up a target to plant 25 crore saplings across the country within 5 years, to maintain the ecological balance. To help the government fulfill the tree plantation target, the organisation adopted the programme and to make the programme a grand success, the organisation distributed as many as 12, 540 saplings of wood, medicinal and fruit bearing trees to 2,508 beneficiaries living at Kholahati, Kuptola, Laxmipur, Sahapara, Ballamjhar, Ramchandrapur, Badiakhali, Ghagoa and Gidari unions under Gaibandha Sadar Upazila in last few days till Tuesday.”
Earlier, the beneficiaries were provided need-based training to plant the saplings well to get good return from the planted trees in future.

JHENAIGATI, SHERPUR: High-yielding (Ufshi) Aman paddy seeds, hybrid green chilli seeds, fertilisers and pesticides have been distributed among small and marginal farmers in Jhenaigati Upazila of the district under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Assistance Programme organised on the UAO’s office premises on Tuesday morning.

UNO Md Al Amin chaired the programme, and UAO Md Farhad Hossain delivered the welcome speech. Upazila BNP Convener Shahjahan Akand, Senior Joint Convener Touhidur Rahman and Member Secretary Lutfar Rahman were present as special guests.

Under this programme organised by the UAO’s office and implemented with the cooperation of the upazila administration, 5 kg of Ufshi Aman paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertiliser and 10 kg of MOP fertiliser were given to each of 1,280 farmers.

Apart from this, each of 70 farmers was given 10 grams of hybrid green chilli seeds, 5 kg of DAP fertiliser, 5 kg of MOP fertiliser and pesticides worth Tk 120.

RAJARHAT, KURIGRAM: Free seeds, fertilisers and agricultural inputs have been distributed among 2,000 small and marginal farmers in Rajarhat Upazila of the district under the Agricultural Incentive Programme for the fiscal year 2025-26.

UNO Tanjila Tasnim inaugurated programme as the chief guest organised at the Upazila Agriculture Office hall on Tuesday. UAO Saifunnahar Sathi chaired the event, and Upazila BNP Acting Convener Advocate Shafiqul Islam, Upazila Jamaat Ameer Mawlana Kafil Uddin, Press Club Rajarhat President Abdul Quddus, General Secretary Prohalad Mondal Saikot, RTV journalist Asaduzzaman Asad and MP representatives were present.

Under the programme, each of 2,000 farmers was provided with 5 kg of Aman paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertiliser and 10 kg of MOP fertiliser to increase the cultivation and production of Ufshi transplanted Aman paddy.
