With an emphasis on financial security, business growth and a savings culture among grassroots entrepreneurs, the Society for Development Initiatives (SDI) organised a symposium in Dhamrai.

Titled "Entrepreneurship and Savings: A Path to Growing Income and Securing the Future," the event was held at SDI's Integrated Resource Center (IRC), bringing together entrepreneurs and savings group members from Dhamrai, Manikganj and Savar.

The programme aimed to raise awareness on how combining business activities with consistent savings can help ensure long-term financial stability and resilience.

Professor Dr Md Abul Hossain, chairman of SDI, attended as chief guest. Among the special guests were Ripa Monalisa, joint director of Bangladesh Bank, and Dewan Koushik Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Golra Highway Police Station. The session was chaired by Shamsul Haque, founder and executive director of SDI.

The symposium was divided into two segments. The first focused on entrepreneurship, highlighting early-stage challenges and sharing real-life experiences of business transformation. Participants actively exchanged insights from their own journeys.

The second segment addressed the importance of savings in sustaining and expanding businesses. Speakers explained how regular savings can help entrepreneurs manage risks, cope with emergencies and maintain family stability.

Entrepreneurs shared their experiences during the session. Abul Karim said savings play a central role in business success when managed properly. Another participant from Kawalipara noted that with SDI's support, he had expanded his business and started exporting products abroad.
