A special briefing was held in Munshiganj district on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026, aimed at ensuring protection of children from life-threatening diseases.
The briefing took place at the conference room of the district civil surgeon’s office, where officials said a total of 1.77 lakh children have been targeted for vaccination. An additional 10 percent capacity has also been kept in preparation for potential demand.
Health authorities said children aged between 6 months and 59 months will be brought under the vaccination programme. The campaign will run daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, except Fridays and Saturdays, and has already been launched in several areas of the district.
Officials added that extensive preparations have been taken to ensure 100 percent coverage, with separate initiatives planned to reach floating and high-risk children. Awareness activities are also being conducted to prevent misinformation and rumours regarding vaccines.
Munshiganj Civil Surgeon Dr Kamrul Zomaddar presided over the briefing attended by WHO representative Dr Sabbir Rahman, medical officer Dr Arifa Yasmin, and journalists from print and electronic media.
Health authorities expressed optimism that the campaign would be successfully completed through joint efforts, ensuring protection of children from measles and rubella risks.
