Dhaka-bound Biman flight stranded in Italy over 7hrs

Biman Bangladesh Airline’s Dhaka-bound flight, carrying around 260 passengers has remained stranded at an airport in Italy for over seven hours due to technical difficulties.

Flight BG306 had departed Toronto around 5:00PM local time on Thursday and landed in Italy at approximately 7:20AM local time on Friday.

The primary goal was to refuel the plane, as said by the affected passengers. However, the airplane had a technical glitch during refueling stop, forcing it to remain stranded in Italy.

Upon landing, travelers were informed that the aircraft required urgent technical repairs. As of 1:30PM local time, the plane remained grounded with no definitive timeline provided for departure.

Several passengers reported distress onboard as they were not allowed outside of the aircraft. Children and elderly began feeling sick due to extreme heat and suffocation as permission to disembark or enter the airport terminal was prohibited.

One passenger named Shariful Islam demanded urgent concern over the situation and called on the airline authorities and the government to intervene immediately to ensure safety and assistance for those stranded.

Efforts to reach Biman Bangladesh Airlines officials for formal comment were unsuccessful, as General Manager (Public Relations) Boshra Islam did not respond to phone calls regarding the incident.
