Primary School Football Tournament Kicks Off in Kulaura

KULAURA, April 26: A primary school football tournament aimed at promoting grassroots sports and student participation was inaugurated on Sunday in Kulaura.

The Government Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026 was launched at the Nabinchandra Government High School field by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Mohiuddin.

The event was chaired by Upazila Primary Education Officer Mohammad Khorshed Alam. Among those present were local political and education figures, including BNP Kulaura unit General Secretary Badruzzaman Sajal and Jamaat-e-Islami Kulaura unit Nayeb-e-Ameer Md. Zakir Hossain, along with assistant education officials, teachers' association leaders, and representatives of guardians from different unions.

Matches held on the opening day saw several teams advance to the semifinals. In the boys' category, Tattouli Government Primary School, Uchail Hossenpur, Chokergram, and Panchpir Jalai qualified for the next round. In the girls' category, Karmodha, Nandanagar, Monraj, and Panchpir Jalai teams secured semifinal spots.
