One killed, 10 injured in Tangail road crash

An elderly man was killed and 10 others were injured in a road crash near Golabari Bridge area in Tangail’s Madhupur upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Fazlul Haque, 61, a resident of Uttar Norilla area under Dhopakhali union of Dhanbari upazila in the district.

According to locals, the incident occurred around 9:30 AM when a pickup van travelling from Madhupur towards Jamalpur collided head-on with two battery-run auto-rickshaws coming from the opposite direction near Golabari Bridge, causing the passengers to be injured.

Later, locals rescued the injured and sent them to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment, but Fazlul Haque died while undergoing treatment.

Being informed, police reached the spot and seized the pickup van. However, the driver has fled.

Madhupur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) AKM Fazlul Haque said that legal procedures are underway.
