A high-speed motorcycle collided with a car, leaving two young men dead on the 300-feet road in Narayanganj's Rupganj on Sunday.

Deceased identified as Rifat, 21, and Sakib, 19, were residents of Bancharampur in Brahmanbaria. The victims were uncle and nephew and were reportedly students at a college in their hometown.

The accident occurred around 1pm at the Jolshiri junction, according to Sohail Rana, chief of the Kanchan Highway Police Camp.

"The car was taking a turn at the junction when a speedy motorcycle, coming from Kanchan towards Kuril on the service lane, crashed into it," the officer said. He noted that the motorcycle was running at approximately 120km per hour.

"One rider was thrown off and landed a distance away, while the rider at the helm remained pinned to the vehicle. Both were in critical condition," he added.

The victims were firstly rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared them dead.

Inspector Md Bachchu Mia, In-Charge of the DMCH police camp, said the two were brought to the hospital in critical condition around 5:30pm.

Their bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue for postmortem examinations. Highway police have seized both the motorcycle and the car.
