Nor'wester kills elderly woman, her two daughters in Jamalpur

A mother and her two daughters have been killed after a nor’wester storm toppled three trees onto their house in Jamalpur's Melandah.

The deceased were identified as Khuki Begum, 65, wife of the late Gani Mandal of Dagi area, and her daughters Farida Akhter, 40, and Fateh Akhter, 37.

The incident occurred around 5AM on Monday in the upazila's Purbadagi area.

Local residents said a tree collapsed onto their tin-shed house at an early hours in Purba Dagi village as the storm swept through the area. The trio were sleeping at that time inside the house, Melandaha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jinnatul Ara confirmed.

It was learnt that five people were killed in last two days' nor'wester in the district.
