Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that none of the 14,384 candidates who passed the written and oral examinations for the post of assistant teacher in government primary schools and were finally recommended for appointment will be excluded from the recruitment process.

He made the remarks at a briefing following the third session of the Deputy Commissioner conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday.

The minister acknowledged that the recruitment of more than 14,000 assistant teachers had been conducted in a "hasty" manner and noted that questions had been raised over the process. However, he insisted, "Still, we are not leaving anyone out.

Everyone will get the opportunity to join."

Asked about the timeline for joining, he said the process would be completed "very soon", adding, "It can be said by going to the Secretariat and opening the file. We have to see what procedures are left. The joining will be done only after the procedure is completed."

He further clarified that the recommended candidates would be appointed subject to conditions. Explaining the framework, he said, "They have been appointed as assistant teachers. It will be examined whether they are qualified or if there are any deficiencies. After joining, they will undergo training at the Primary Teachers Training Institute. If they fail there, they will no longer be able to continue as teachers."

He added that confirmation of service would depend on performance after joining. "As per government rules, if they successfully complete two years in service, we will retain them and make them permanent. Everything will be done in the interest of national education. We want qualified teachers to be appointed to educate our children," he said.

Prime Minister's Education Adviser Dr Mahdi Amin, Education Secretary Abdul Khaleq, Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md Sakhawat Hossain and other senior officials were present at the briefing.

According to official sources, a written multiple choice examination for assistant teacher recruitment was held on January 9 simultaneously in 61 districts, excluding the three hill districts. A total of 69,265 candidates who passed the written test were selected for the oral examination.

The final results were published on February 8, in which 14,384 candidates were initially selected for appointment, along with district wise merit lists.

Subsequently, selected candidates were instructed by the Directorate of Primary Education to submit health fitness certificates and dope test reports issued by the respective civil surgeons between February 22 and February 27. They were also required to appear in person at the concerned district primary education offices by March 1 with original academic certificates, national identity cards, police verification forms, medical documents and relevant quota certificates, if applicable.

Despite completing these procedural requirements, candidates have yet to receive final appointment letters, delaying their formal joining into service.
