One gets life-term in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, May 5:  The Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal of Pirojpur Judge Court SM Moniruzzman on Tuesday afternoon sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment and fined Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer six more months in jail, for raping a minor girl.  

The convicted is Md Sumon Hawlader, son of Md Hamed Hawlader of Junia Village in Bhandaria Upazila of the district. 

According to the case, the convict kidnapped the girl of class eight on March 3, 2018 on her way home from school and raped her in an abandoned house of Feroz Pahaloan of the same village. The girl disclosed the incident to her maternal uncle. The rapist and his relatives tried to resolve the matter through arbitration. 

Meanwhile, the victim's family filed a case with Bhandaria Police Station on March 16. Police submitted a charge sheet accusing Sumon Hawlader.
