
LALMOHAN, BHOLA, June 4: Twenty-five ultra-poor families in Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola have received goats as part of a livelihood support programme aimed at promoting self-employment and improving living standards.
Under the initiative of the non-governmental organisation Dweep Unnayan Society (DAS), two goats were distributed to each beneficiary family on Thursday afternoon at Abuganj Bazar in Farajganj Union of the upazila.
Earlier, a training session and discussion meeting were held for the beneficiaries under a special grant programme funded by the Bangladesh NGO Foundation.
Lalmohan Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Sifat Bin Sadek attended the event as the chief guest.
He said the goats were not merely aid but a means for beneficiaries to become self-reliant, urging them to ensure proper care and management of the livestock.
The UNO added that proper implementation of the project through dedication and hard work could open the door to further support in the future. The programme was chaired by Dweep Unnayan Society Executive Director Md Yunus Mia.
Among others present were Upazila Social Services Officer Md Masud, organisation governing body member Md Jahidul Islam, project officer Harun-or-Rashid Babul, accountant Abdul Hai, and beneficiaries.
