Journos' role in democracy discussed in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, May 5: A dialogue session on role of journalists in democracy was held in the conference room of Pirojpur Press Club on Monday afternoon. 

People's Development Foundation and Foundation for Human Rights Culture jointly organised the event under the project titled 'Defending human rights through networking strengthening'.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Pirojpur Md Mahmudur Rahman Mamun attended as chief guest while Md Rafiqul Islam Panna chaired the programme and Advocate Saidur Rahman presented the keynote speech.

Speakers said that to make a vibrant and democratic society, journalists can play a vital role. To ensure equal and discriminations free society, freedom of expression is most essential. Every journalist should be impartial and stand beside victims of all kinds of injustices and violation of human rights.

Among others, journalists Rabbani Feroz and Moniuruzzman Nasim also spoke.
